Historical images from the IGN are full of resources.
This video shows an oblique view of Nice from 1920 (© IGN) overlaid with a current view (© Google Earth).
👨🍳 A bit of “cooking” was needed for this result!
- Georeferencing the historical photo using the Veezer app to retrieve all the parameters of the shot (off-topic, but it works 🙂).
- Generating the synthetic image on Google Earth with the same parameters.
A web app was developed by Pixmap Studio for the occasion to make image comparison easier, with zoom functionality and a swipe tool, all in a responsive interface usable on both desktop and mobile (using wasm).
IGN oblique images (National Institute of Geographic and Forest Information) available on Remonter le Temps.
