Using Veezer in a Ski Resort

Geolocation on aerial photo with current snow conditions and piste map
  • A handheld aerial photograph taken at low altitude.
  • 15 minutes of preparation in the Veezer app to georeference the image (10 checkpoints on the map and IGN aerial image).
  • 30 minutes of graphic design work in the Veezer app to add the legend and credits, pistes, lifts, and points of interest.

The result: a photo reflecting current snow conditions, incorporating the piste map, and real-time location information on the image.

This isn’t necessarily the intended use of the Veezer app, but it could spark some ideas 🙂
Given the minimal preparation time and low cost, this is a service that could be offered weekly, even in small resorts.

For recurring use, preparation time and cost could undoubtedly be further optimized (using a drone, pre-calibrating the camera, using GIS data, etc.).

Thanks to Pierre Aimon (International Air Photo) for the photo and his state-of-the-art equipment (Fuji GFX 100S, 102 megapixels). The photo was taken handheld to achieve an angle of approximately 20° from the horizontal, impossible to obtain with the onboard camera system.
